Pork Fat Rules

"I love to singa, about the moona and the Juna and the springa. I
love to singa,
about skies so blue and tea for two. I lova to I lova to sing! Wup,
hoa!"
Hoss backed up the wagon loaded down with mesquite wood in the front
yard of the Ponderosa. Lettng the reins drop he jumped off the seat with
a bounce. Hoss ran his big hand along the rail slowly; he drew in a deep
breath closing his eyes dreamily. " All those gals, pulled pork
sandwhiches and music, music, music.Be still my heart," he sighed A big
grin spread acoss his face as he turned on his heels.
"Hey Pa, Adam, Joe!"
The front door opened with a clink and out marched Pa and Joe.
Clearly excited, Hoss' face was beaming.
"Son, that's quite a load of mesquite wood you've got there. Why do you
need so much?" asked Pa with eyes twinkling; Joe
whistled silently..."mmm, mmm"
"Well, sir, gotta have bait enough to last the summer"
"huh?" Joe was skeptical "Sure, " Hoss coughed, "it's for the gals" he
drawled bobbing his chin; Pa crossed his arms;
"Well, of course it's for the girls! Why couldn't I see that?" Pa's eyes
rolled at his gap toothed son.  Hoss popped his lips "Yup!"
"pft...it's just a load of old mesquite wood, a BIG load. " Joe squealed
skeptically. Hoss cleared his throat planting his muscular arm around
his younger brother's  handsome shoulders. " Joe," he began slowly in
confidence, "how'd you like a party every Friday and Saturday night this
summer" Hoss' face split in half with glee. "What has a party got to do
with mesquite" Joe's eyebrows twitched expectantly. "Well, I'll tell ya,
li'l brother," Hoss drew Joe closer "come on around back and I'll show
you something." "Just a minute, fellas," Pa interrupted huskily
"whatever it is you're doing, do it quickly then get that wagon unloaded
and out of the yard!" "Yes,sir, Pa" nodded Hoss as Joe smirked
knowingly; Ben shook his head and headed for his study to count out the
week's payload. Hoss tapped his brother on the chest with the back of
his hand. "  Come on, Joseph"

At the back of the house, protected by a few young trees stood Hoss'
new toy in all its glory. The big man bounced on his heels and tucked
his thumbs in his belt. He beamed proudly. "Ain't it pretty? And it's
all mine! hee hee " Hoss rolled his eyes sighing. "Holy
Toledo, Hoss!
This is the biggest barbeque grill I've ever seen!" He was beginning to
see the light. Little Joe gaped at the huge brick and stone barbeque
grill with the double ovens . Hoss rubbed his hands; butterflies of
anticipation bubbled up from deep inside. He cold hardly contain his
mirth.
Pulling his brother by his arm, Hoss dragged Joe to a huge platform
covered by an equally huge awning. "Look, here , Short Shanks...imagine
this" he went on mischieviously, " Gals from all over three counties,
coming from miles around for barbeques and a dance! We don't have to use
the living room any more and crowd everybody. We can have the dances
right here! There's plenty of room and check this out!" Hoss grabbed
Joe's arm and bounced on the wooden platform. "There's springs
underneath the boards!" Joe slapped his brother's arm "Hoss, you're a
genius." They both started laughing. "When the music starts and they get
a whiff of the mesquite wood cooking pork they'll be more gals here than
ants at a picnic." Hoss wrapped his brawny arm around his brother's and
twirled him around the dance platform. " Grab your partner and do se
do!" Hoss started laughing louder and louder, his blue eyes growing
huge. Rolling his head back he laughed 'til the tears rolled down his
cheeks.
"ooooh eee...come on Hoss, what are we waiting for?" Joe jumped up and
crumpled the big man's hat. "Let's get that wagon unloaded!"

Hoss threw his arm around his brother's shoulder as they stode around
the house still giggling excitedly. "You know, li'l brother, this ain't
the only surprise I've got for ya...I've been practicing on my
Stradavari!" he winked mischievously. Suddenly Joe went green. Hoss
burst into a giggle fit again doubling over in a great guffaw..."Oh, no"
Joe pleaded silently
