" No, It's His Turn !"

" DADBURNIT HOSS, LET ME GO !  I MEAN IT !  LET ME GO !"  Little Joe shouted as loud as he could, while he was pointing at Adam.  The boy was very upset with both of his big brothers, but especially at Adam.

" Just settle down little brother, and stop yer shoutin' !" Hoss angrily replied.

Adam just stood there looking at Little Joe and he knew why the boy was so mad at him, but he was the oldest and he was in charge this week.

" It ain't fair one bit !  Why do I gotta do all the cookin' while Hop Sing is gone?  You tell me why Adam.  Ya dun told us that we was gonna take turns doin' the cookin, but you two ain't dun no cookin' at all.  IT AIN'T FAIR!  I ain't no cook ya know !" Lilttle Joe grumped.

" Sorry little brother, you are the cook, so get use to it.  Now if you don't mind me asking, how in the world did all that food just happen to end up on the ceiling in the kitchen?" Adam asked almost afraid to hear the answer.

" I can understand how food can end up on the floor and on the stove, but on the ceiling ?  Really little buddy, you have a talent for doing the unexplained," Adam continued.

" Hey Adam, dunt ferget, there is food on the walls too," Hoss reminded Adam.  " That's right. I forgot about that," Adam replied.

" Come on little brother, explain how food ended up on the ceiling and the walls?" Adam inquired.  " This should be very interesting Hoss," Adam whispered into Hoss' ear.  Hoss nodded back.

" Umm...well...umm... when I was cookin', that food just took off and it landed up on the ceiling.  I certainly didn't tell it ta go up there ya know, but it dun and that's the truth.  As fer the walls, I can't explain it, but it just landed on the walls too," Little Joe tried to explain as he smiled at his brothers.

Hoss and Adam just stood there looking at their brother, and slowly shook their heads in disbelief at what the boy had just told them.

" I see.  If Hop Sing could only see what his kitchen looked like right now, he would take the first ship back to China," Adam declared.

" Oh lordy !  We can't let Hop Sing leave Adam.  Who's gonna cook fer us, and ya better not say little Short Shanks here !" Hoss nervously said as he glared at Little Joe.

" Hey you guys, I just happen ta know what ta do in the kitchen, thank you very much.  After all, who do ya think's been doin' the cookin' everyday, three times a day, in a very hot kitchen. HUH?"  Little Joe asked as he stared at his brothers.

As Adam tried to hide his smile, he looked at his little brother and said, " If you know what you are doing in the kitchen, then why is there food on the ceiling and the walls?"

Little Joe took a deep breath, and answered back, " DADBURNIT, didn'tcha hear what I already told ya,  It just went up there, and I couldn't stop it !"

After Little Joe had served dinner that night, his brothers couldn't tell what it was.  " What the heck is this stuff?" Hoss asked as he stared at the food that was on the platter in the middle of the table.  Both Adam and Hoss had a sour look on their faces, while Little Joe smiled at them.

" It's a big secret, that's what it is," the boy replied.  To their surprise, what ever it was that Little Joe had cooked for dinner tasted good.

" Hey, this is good.  Come on Joe, tell us what it is, please," Adam pleaded.  It's mashed potatoes, with mashed carrots and peas in a gravy over pieces of beef," Little Joe explained.

After they had finished their dinner, Little Joe began to throw food at his brother and a big food fight was on.

It took them most of the night to get the diningroom and kitchen cleaned up.  Adam and Hoss made Little Joe do most of the work, since he was the one who started the fight.

Hop Sing was due back home the next day, so the brothers wanted everything nice and clean.

Hop Sing was very pleased at how clean his kitchen looked.  " Kitchen look very clean.  Hop Sing very surprised," Hop Sing happily said.

Little Joe felt very proud of himself, since he was the one who had to clean up the kitchen. " Thanks Hop Sing," the boy replied as he smiled at Hop Sing.

As Hop Sing was cooking dinner that night, a large clump of cold mashed potatoes landed on the top of his head.  " WHAT THAT ?"  Hop Sing declared, then he saw what had hit him on the head.

" LITTLE JOE, WHAT YOU DO ?  WHY POTATOES ON CEILING ?  THEY HIT HOP SING ON HEAD !  WHERE YOU AT LITTLE JOE ?" Hop Sing shouted.

" Uh oh, this ain't good !" Little Joe declared as he ran out the front door and up to the safety of the hayloft.  Adam and Hoss stood there laughing at the sight of their little brother racing out of the house and into the barn.  " That's our baby brother," they both declared.

The End.
